First steps

Like the prodigal son (of Bible fame)I turned my back on sewing to find other loves.  The call has been there for quite some time to get back to my first love and I guess I am unable to resist any longer.

I started my return journey with purchasing sewing courses on Craftsy.com.  Sewing is as much mental as it is practical.  Then I searched for something 'small' to make on the internet and I came up with this cute pin cushion -  Sorry, I cannot remember where I found it.  However a half of a toilet paper roll, scraps of batting, an old CD, small bits of fabric, glue gun, and thread were used in making this up.   (You can look for it on the net).  This was  a no-sew(except for gathering the bits of fabric for the top and the CD) but it finally brought head and hand together.

So Wednesday April 10th, 2013, I finally returned to my sewing machine  and serger.  Oh how they missed me!

Woman and machines had a great reunion and from that reunion were born three boxer shorts, thanks to Professor Pincushion.  Two of them are pictured below.

Double Knockout - my first garments since returning.

You can find them here - www.professorpincushion.com.   Look for the lesson "Making Boxer shorts".

This is my first published blog.  But look forward to doing lots more as I chronicle the return of the Prodigal daughter.
